Poetry – Sand and Pearls

Sand and Pearls

Proof that little things, seemingly insignificant things like grains of sand

Stuck in an oyster

Can become something much more special

Given time.

Through ocean storms and smokes of tangled seaweed

The grain of sand

Undergoes metamorphosis like a caterpillar in a cocoon.

It comes out a round bead of pearl, shining and glimmering underwater

Whilst the other oyster shells lie

Discarded on the beach.

Their shells insignificant, waiting to be finely grounded

Into grains of sand.
